Let me introduce to you author Peter Davidson whose book PENNY I recently read and reviewed.
IN PETER’S OWN WORDS
My wife and I spend our summers in the Lake Okoboji resort area of Iowa, which is Iowa’s most active tourist area. There are five lakes in our small town and lots of concerts and activities in the summertime. We also have a home in Arizona, where we spend six months in the winter.
For more than two decades, I was one of America’s most active writer’s seminar presenters, having presented 637 one-day seminars in a 15-state area from Minnesota to Tennessee and Colorado to Illinois.
I have a Master’s Degree in business and owned several small businesses, including co-owner of a professional recording studio, which was quite a hoot! I also taught business courses in a college and taught the Iowa real estate pre-license course on television, training more than 700 real estate agents, something for which I suppose I’ll have to answer for on Judgment Day.
Questions & Answers
What genre do you write?
Predominately, I am a book writer. I have authored or co-authored twenty-eight published books.
I have written a few magazine articles that were published, including one called “Writer Turns Rejection Into Art.” I created a collage of bits and pieces of rejection letters and wrote an article about the collage and about receiving, and surviving, rejections as a writer. This was years ago and two writer’s magazines published the photo of the collage and my article.
I have written about 100 songs and a couple have been published and recorded. One of my songs was used in a television series in The Netherlands. My songwriting would be properly classified as a hobby.
What is your target audience?
Anyone who enjoys a good read.
Tell Us About Other Books You’ve Written
I have written novels, non-fiction, college textbooks, and children’s picture books. My books have been published by McGraw-Hill Book Company, Perigee/Putnam Publishers, Sweet Memories Publishing, Haworth Press, and others.
Please describe a few of your books
My newest book, a novel, published in June, 2017, is named PENNY. It is about a very special one cent piece that passes through the hands of ordinary people, the famous, the infamous, the saints, and the sinners and ends up in churches, honkytonks, and everywhere in between. The book is about the people whose hands the penny passes through.
You may be familiar with the term, “Shoebox Accountant,” which refers to someone who throws all of their personal receipts, invoices, bills, and financial records into a shoebox, drawer, or sack. Then at the end of the month, year, or at income tax time, they dump it all on the kitchen table and try to make sense of it. Well, I wrote the first “Shoebox Accounting” simulation ever published. It is for college students and has been on the market for around thirty years, published by McGraw-Hill..
My book, EARN MONEY AT HOME, published by McGraw-Hill trade division, was on the market for seventeen years.
Is PENNY available as an ebook?
Yes, it’s available for Kindle.
What are you working on now? Are you planning another book?
I have finished a manuscript called GOING OUT WITH A BANG!: Making Your Mark . . . Leaving A Legacy . . . And Then, A Final Farewell That’ll Knock Their Socks Off! It might appear that the book would be morbid, but the opposite is true. It fits my goal of being edgy, irreverent, and humorous.
