As I announced a couple of days ago in my June 2017 Newsletter, I’ve begun working on a new book but have no title for it. Can you help me? I’m looking for either a complete title or an idea to work from. The contest is open mainly to folks in the United States and Canada (you’ll see why in a moment). Deadline for entries is September 30, 2017. In the event of two (or more) similar entries the one with the earliest submission date will win.
Background of the story: This story centers around two very different young European women and their journey to come to America. The reader will follow them as they encounter all sorts of challenges and obstacles to follow their dream of a better life. The book will encompass the time period of the very late 1890s through 1948-9. Not quite historical romance but of course there will be a romance involved. My goal with this book is to show that today’s immigrants still face most of the same challenges in seeking a better life.
Prize(s): the grand prize is two-fold – a hand-crocheted afghan (made by me) and a copy of the new book when it becomes available. A second place winner may be chosen and that person will receive a free copy of the book when it becomes available. See below for a picture of the afghan – it is currently only half finished. The combination of colors is called Hot Chocolate. Wouldn’t you like to curl up in your chair or on your sofa with a book and a mug of hot chocolate or a latte? (The weight of the afghan for shipping costs is why I’m limiting the contest to the United States and Canada. Sorry.)
Unfinished afghan is just over my shoulder!
