The Fourth Law of Kanaloa by Johan Twiss

A haunting story that begins during the bombing of Pearl Harbor and ends some forty years later. When a young female nightclub singer is injured during the bombing, she is pulled beneath the waves by a merman who has broken the law of non-involvement with humans, The Fourth Law of Kanaloa. Although he’s a prince, he must remain imprisoned until his father’s death. The young woman eventually recovers but rate is not mind to her. She finds herself a homeless drifter living in the streets of Boston waiting for the underwater man who travels with her in her dreams. Will her merman claim her before she dies of old age?

I thoroughly enjoyed this short story. Thought-provoking, original, and captivating.
