Second in the series of Sean books, this adventure begins as eight year old Sean and his mommy travel to Barcelona to see his soccer hero Lionel Messi play in a Team Barcelona soccer game. Sean is also hoping to get an autograph from the professional soccer player. But getting close to the celebrity soccer star isn’t easy for the young tourist. A visit to the Camp Nou Stadium, home to Team Barca, allows Sean to stand on the turf where his idol plays. Although mommy takes Sean to see many of the tourist highlights of beautiful Barcelona, he only has one thing on his mind – how to meet Lionel Messi and get the man’s autograph.
Sean becomes disheartened when, on game day, Team Barcelona (and Messi) are defeated by their rivals. But mommy has a plan to make Sean feel better: they will try to find where Messi lives and hope to get an autograph. After all, they’ve traveled all the way from England just so Sean could meet his idol. Will Sean get the autograph he so desperately wants? Will mommy lose patience with Sean’s whining and badgering? IIs there a chance Sean’s backup plan will work or will Sean and his mommy go home without the coveted autograph and only a few souvenirs?
A beautifully illustrated, exciting continuation of the Sean series that teaches young readers about pursuing their goals.
