YA Book Review: Confectionately Yours by Lisa Papademetriou

This is a new feature – Young Adult Book Reviews. Reviews in this category were written by actual students at Woodlawn Beach Middle School in Gulf Breeze, FL. I will add  my own notes in italics where appropriate for clarification purposes only. Students were provided a form by their teacher(s) and filled in the categories.

This review was written by Makayla.

Introduce the book: A girl Haley is a normal girl. It’s Thanksgiving time and she is supposed to have Thanksgiving with her mom.

Tell about the book, but don’t give away the ending!: Haley’s parents are divorced. She lives with her mom and is supposed to have Thanksgiving with her grandma, mom, and sis. Although her dad invites her and her sister to have Thanksgiving with him and her girlfriend. She gets sick and throws up at dinner. She gets an allergic reaction. It’s not so nice a Thanksgiving for Haley.

Tell about your favorite part of the book or make a connection.: My favorite part of the book was when she (Haley) went dress shopping and finally stood up for herself and told her dad how it is.

Give a recommendation(e.g., If you like…, you will love this book or I recommend this book to anyone who likes…).: If you love to read about girly girls and drama, then you’re in for a treat, because that’s all this book. I recommend people to read this book, because it is funny and if you love to cook the main character is a worker at a bakery and inside it (the book) includes real recipes that you can make. Plus, Haley, the main character is really good at entertaining people in this book its alot of yelling and juicy gossip and that’s why (you should) read it. I recommend you read this series.
